Premio Città del Capo provides a residency grant for an Italian artist. The winner is offered the opportunity to spend a period of three months in Cape Town in order to foster the development of their creative skills in contact with the South African cultural and artistic environment. The initiative is reserved for Italian artists born after 31 December 1978, active in the visual arts, in the broadest sense of the term, with at least one solo exhibition and an adequate knowledge of English.
The award is announced by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture (DGAAP), the Directorate-General for Promotion of the Country System of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria in the framework of the Cultural Programme "Italy, Culture, Africa".
The residency takes place at the A4 Arts Foundation, with the winning artist having the opportunity to participate in the activities and various collaboration opportunities offered by the structure. The residency period is scheduled for February - April 2019. The winner of the award will be offered a 3-month scholarship that includes, in addition to a monthly allowance of €1,000.00, the availability of a studio and accommodation in Cape Town.
